Scary Survey

Here you go, check this out. Sad state of Affairs here in America. Here are some highlights:

…A new national survey released today at a US Senate hearing shows that when asked, more American teenagers:

can name three of the Three Stooges than can name the three branches of government (59% to 41%)

know the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air than know the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (94.7% to 2.2%)

know which city has the zip code “90210″ than the city in which the US Constitution was written (75% to 25%), and

know the star of the motion picture “Titanic” than know the Vice President of the United States (90% to 74%).

Wouldn’t our founding fathers be proud? We have become so complacant that we don’t even know our rights.  I have seen these types of surveys done on Leno and other shows and am always amazed.

I remember one Leno where they were asking people what the bill of rights was and to name a few of their rights.  On lady actually answered, the right to own a cat.  What??  How can people not care about this ’stuff’?

Our country was founded on this premise, the right to self-govern. If “We the People” chose not to self-govern but let our representatives govern then we chose a dictatorship.  We must have a sense of what our government is doing what they are allowed to do on our behalf.

When they (the government) start trampling our rights then “We the People” must put them back in line.  This is how we keep our country free. Otherwise all we have is the illusion of freedom.
